Applied Web Handling Conference Takes Place In May In Rochester, New York

The Association of Industrial Metallizers, Coaters and Laminators will host its third biennial Applied Web Handling (AWEB) Conference, May 17-20, 2010, at the Radisson Hotel Rochester Riverside in Rochester, New York.

Session topics include drives, slitting control, cores, static control in winding rolls, measurement and modeling of nip roller feed rates, wrinkling problems, roll alignment, and troubleshooting draw and tension variations and web and roll defects.

In addition, attendees may sign up for optional, pre-conference short courses, Electrostatics in Web Handling in the morning on Monday, May 17, 2010, and/or A Practical Approach to Eliminate Web Wrinkling that afternoon.

Other highlights include a luncheon sponsored by Optimation Technology Inc. followed by a tour of its web handling facility in nearby Rush, New York. The agenda also includes TableTop Receptions on Monday, May 17, and Tuesday, May 18, daily networking breakfasts and a Managers Reception on Wednesday, May 19. The conference concludes with Sage on Stage, a question-and-answer forum with leading technical consultants.

Registrations received before April 15, 2010, cost $695 for members, $895 for nonmembers, and $295 for students/members of academia. After April 15, 2010, registration fees go up to $895 for members and $1095 for nonmembers. The half-day short courses are priced at $295 each. The AWEB Conference program was organized by AIMCAL's Web Handling Committee, chaired by Ron Schmidt of Maxcess International, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, with assistance from top web-handling consultants including Dr. David Roisum of Finishing Technologies, Inc., Neenah, Wisconsin; Timothy J. Walker of TJWalker+Associates Inc., St. Paul, Minnesota; Dr. Dilwyn P. Jones of Emral Ltd., Bentley Wynd, UK; and Jerry Brown of Essex Systems, Huntington, New York.
