The ECS Ejector - Automatic Air Vent (EAAV) provides automatic venting of trapped air in wet pipe fire sprinkler systems. As a fire sprinkler system is filled with water, trapped air migrates to the high point of the system where the air vent valve is designed to be located. This allows for the trapped air to be released through the vent. The air vent valve will automatically close when water reaches the vent.
"The recent release of the 2010 Edition of the NFPA 13 Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems now refers to venting as a reasonable approach to reducing corrosion activity in wet pipe fire sprinkler systems. The EAAV's FM Approval will permit more specifying engineering firms to specify the EAAV as a proven method for venting trapped air from wet pipe fire protection systems," said Greg Miller President of Code Consultants, Inc. a fire protection engineering and consulting firm.
The patent pending EAAV incorporates a primary air vent, a water collection chamber with a visual water indicator element and secondary back up air vent valve.
A unique feature of the EAAV is the ability to confirm its operation by viewing the water indicator element in the water collection chamber from a distance of up to 30 feet below the unit. This design eliminates the need for lifts and ladders required by other air vent models to visually confirm operation of the unit.
There are two models of the ECS Ejector - Automatic Air Vent, the EAAV-2 and the EAAV-3. The EAAV-3 includes a wiring harness to connect the ECS Ejector to a monitoring circuit such as a fire alarm/waterflow or building monitoring system.
