LINE-X® Coating Becomes First Spray Applied Polyurea Approved For Use In Public Water Reservoirs In England And Wales
- Aquaurethane Extreme is specially formulated to meet the UK's most stringent regulations required for fresh, treated and potable water containment -
Huntsville, AL /PRNewswire/ -- LINE-X® Protective Coatings, the nation's leading developer and provider of high performance protective coatings, is pleased to announce that its new Spray-On Coating, Aquaurethane Extreme, has been accepted by the Secretary of State and approved under Regulation 31 of the Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations 2000, which regulates fresh, treated and potable water storage reservoirs in England and Wales. While concrete tanks and pipes have long been the standard for water containment, LINE-X Aquaurethane Extreme is the first spray applied polyurea to meet the requirements and high standards for use in public water containment.
Aquaurethane Extreme is a revolutionary fast-set, quick drying spray-on polyurea that contains zero volatile organic compounds and is specially formulated to safely repair and protect the inside of water storage tanks, reservoirs or pipes that have become porous over time and susceptible to leaks and seepage.
"This is a huge win for LINE-X and the water treatment and sanitation industry," said Kevin Heronimus, CEO of LINE-X Protective Coatings. "This revolutionary new product will not only repair damage to existing water reservoirs but provide complete corrosion protection to prevent future water loss."
Aquaurethane Extreme is professionally applied by trained applicators using specialized high pressure plural component application equipment. It is touch dry in five to seven seconds, making it easy and quick to apply. The speed and ease of application also allows large surface areas to be coated in a short amount of time, ensuring that pipes and reservoirs are put back into service without delay. Because Aquaurethane Extreme is a spray-on product, it creates a seamless monolithic membrane that can prevent water from the containment area from seeping into structural walls and into the environment.
In addition to use inside water storage tanks, Aquaurethane Extreme can be applied to the inside of concrete pipes used to carry water from the reservoirs to the end user providing a seamless lining that helps prevent leaks from the pipes as well as sealing the joints. While designed to protect against abrasion and corrosion, Aquaurethane Extreme also has exceptional elasticity which allows the product to expand and contract with the concrete.
Aquaurethane Extreme has been applied on various projects as an external waterproofing coating for potable water structures including underground reservoirs. By coating the external roof of the reservoir, Aquaurethane Extreme prevents contaminants and pollutants from penetrating the outside and contaminating the treated and stored water.
"We at LINE-X are proud to develop new products and solutions that have a positive impact on the health and safety of people all over the world," said Steve Decker, Vice President of International Operations. "We strive to meet the highest standards and demand of our clientele and the industries we serve."
