Chem-Trend® Flow Promoter Enhances Rotomolding Efficiency

New specialty product improves throughput, surface quality and resin coverage

Howell, Mich. (PRWEB) - Chem-Trend, a global leader in the development and production of high-performance release agents andcasting lubricants, has developed a new specialty product that improves efficiency and quality during the rotomolding process. Called Chem-Trend® Flow Promoter, this process chemical specialty helps resins adhere to hard-to-reach mold surfaces until molded parts are structurally sound, then allows for easy and clean release with a blemish-free appearance.

Chem-Trend® Flow Promoter helps ensure that the fully molten skin of the formed part remains in close contact with the mold wall throughout the heating and initial cooling cycle. Once the molded part begins to retain enough structural rigidity to resist collapse, Flow Promoter allows it to release cleanly, quickly and evenly, without any surface abrasion.

Rotomolding is a process that allows seamless hollow components, such as storage tanks, industrial parts and toys, to be manufactured with a variety of ground thermoplastic resins. These resins are tumbled against the inner surface of a hot rotating molding tool, where they coat the mold surface and fuse together. As molded parts take on increasingly complex geometries, however, it can be difficult for resins to enter tight corners and narrow cross-sections. Flow Promoter targets those areas to eliminate resin starvation and the resulting pinholds that can form on the part’s surface.

When applied to mold parting lines and molded-in threads, Flow Promoter prevents blow holes and resin bridging around tight internal radii. Its specifically designed packaging optimizes application, preventing any visible transfer to the finished part and very low build-up on the mold.
