Sand Filtration for Wastewater Treatment
The DynaSand Filter is a continuous backwash, upflow, deep-bed granular-media filter. An airlift pipe and sand washer keep the filter media constantly clean by recycling the sand internally. The cleansed sand is then redistributed on top of the sand bed, allowing continuous flow of filtrate and backwash water. The fact that the sand bed is kept continuously clean makes the need for shutdown for backwash cycles, ancillary equipment, and flow control valves, splitter boxes, and backwash controls virtually non-existent. In metal finishing applications, the typical loading rate is five gpm/ft2. The flow rate for influent solids is 20-100 ppm and for filtrate solids is two to five ppm.
